Firstly I would like to take this point in Thanking David for sharing his collection with us
Yes some interesting ones from the TMSV sales which I was in control of
Many years back when Dave Menzies was the Sales Officer for the TMSV & worked for the MMTB ‘ 616 ‘ & ‘ 332 ‘ became the HO for them after Bob P
gave up 13 High St Prahran - with the help of DM & the Chairman of the MMTB - Sir Robert Risson - we were able to get a licence to copy & sell slides from
Kodak at ‘ 332 ‘ & on charters - plus a book licence - which I could sell but Not sell shoes after hours
On doing so - the sales from ‘ 332 ‘ grew from $ 20 a week to well over $ 2000
We became Kodaks best customer in reproductions of slides & B&W tram photos
I had to buy a cabinet to house the overseas books & an electric display for the slides & come up with a code = MF meant Melbourne Footscray -
BO Bendigo - BL Ballarat - so forth - I kept a book on what we sold - but moving - can’t find it now
At lunch time - 12 noon to about 2:30 Pm ‘ 332 ‘ was packed out - often Dave M - Ellen Butland - now in NZ- often helped out with Sales as I was also busy
selling shoes - the store was often packed out
A very interesting period for the Tram Industry & ‘ 332 ‘
What you see today at Bylands is due to the success of the TMSV Sales at ‘ 332 ‘ & my Father V G J Scholten who allowed this to happen
Thanks to a lot of people - too many to mention now - who made it a Success
Ron
