We all look back on past eras with affection. What you’ve described pretty well coincides with the part of my collection that I’ve been scanning and cataloguing. There sure have been many changes since we lost our beloved MMTB on 30 June 1983!

But we still have “the tramways” in Melbourne. Trams are the loves of our lives. The reason for our existence. How would it be if there were no trams in Melbourne?

We do need to keep recording everyday operations of the trams in Melbourne. Easier said than done in these unexpected and unforeseen times. We may know of people outside “the hobby” who are doing it tough but that’s not the case among tram enthusiasts; we are strong and resilient people not impacted by “things of the world”.

Maybe some time down the track we will look back on 2020 as one of the more interesting periods in the history of trams in Melbourne?
