A local bus driver once told me that Transdev's KPIs for on time running
only apply on weekdays. Our weekend bus service appears to be 'best
effort' only. Best effort means having only 1 bus on the route and not
allowing any recovery time or driver breaks.

The best one was 'Sunday service is hourly as there is no demand'. There
is no demand because the service is crap. Walk down to the local
shopping centre (that is the centre of a number of bus routes) and if
anything it's busier on a Sunday than Saturday.

I'm sure these private operators have far better lawyers than TfNSW.
They will know exactly how little to spend to meet the agreed KPI, KPIs
that will be in their favour to start with as they are better
negotiators. Transit systems probably either have no KPI for weekends or
a much relaxed one, I can't see they would take on something that
Transdev doesn't in another region.
