Today's pics focus on some of the gadgets that make track laying fast in Melbourne.

First pic shows the 'Octopus' which picks up 6 sleepers at a time from a pile and accurrately places them on the roadbed.

Second pic shows the attachment that lifts the rail (already welded into long sections) onto the sleepers for clipping.  Look carefully and you will see the post deivery / pre placement Thermit welds in the rail.
