Re: News ?

The figures are in my post, Graham, the latest, most up to date and current figures available, from the Electrical Engineering department at University Of Technology, Sydney.

This is real, not the concoction of some public relations shill for the coal industry, or some flat earther tinfoil hat Jew baiting nut job like Malcolm Roberts.

Coal is just bad, and is long overdue for replacement. Gas is artificially expensive on the eat coast because ofba bogusexport scheme invented by Santos, which has inflicted global parity prices on the local market, again making renewables even more attractive.

Apart from the obvious problem of the fumes from burning it, coal has a debilitating effect on the communities that mine it, with Black Lung rampant among miners in Queensland, and severe pulmonary damage inflicted on Hunter Valley residents from dust and other mining residue. In the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands long wall coal mining is destroying peat bogs, rivers, and lakes while contaminating water supply catchments.

As I said, coal is only as good as it is because the externalities are ignored.

Quote figures if you can, i think wind power generation is some 200% dearer than coal fired generating stations, so i you think I am gong top 'enjoy' nice cuddly green wind powered electricity being used in my house at $750 per quarter instead of $250, - have another think! By all means shut down all the nasty smoke making old fashioned power stations, - what a splendid idea, - but only if and when you can come up with a true parity of cost. Untilthen i'll willingly put up with smoke on the horizon.
