Friends of Douglas Bay Horse Tramway would like to thank you for signing our e-petition that was set up to demonstrate public demand for retention of the Tramway. The petition has now been signed by nearly 4,000 people.

However there is still a long way to go before the future of the Tramway is secure and if you have not already joined us, we ask you to become a Friend, it's free!

Joining Friends of Douglas Bay Horse Tramway helps us to demonstrate tangible public support for retaining the tram service along Douglas Promenades and the conservation of the Strathallan tramcar depot, the Summer Hill stables and the remaining 25 tramcars. Maintaining a working role for heavy horses (in our case Clydesdales and Shires) is also an important element of their equine breed conservation.

These are challenging times for the future of the Horse Tramway. As a group, we will do all we can to ensure that politicians and heritage bodies meet to discuss and consider any and all alternative options for continuing the service along the Douglas Promenades and preserving its heritage assets.

On behalf of Douglas Bay Horse Tramway and its 'Trammers', thank you for showing your support.

Friends of Douglas Bay Horse Tramway is an independent volunteer community group established in September 2014 to help promote and support the continued operation of the world's last remaining 19th century original horse-drawn passenger tramway, running along the 1½ miles of seafront promenades of Douglas, capital of the Isle of Man, since 1876.
