Yet unfortunately they're right.

Not that that should discourage us from keeping on trying. I've never seen (or been aware of) an energy security policy from any Australian government. Our native fuel resources are coal and gas and we're madly exporting them. Any glitch in the supply of imported oil we're up the proverbial creek. It's like the parable of the wise and foolish virgins and Australia is being run by the foolish ones.
