Footscray Rd: SW6.969 being trucked to Arts Centre to become an outdoor bar.
Sat.5.2.11. (Jeff Bounds)

After decades of being titled 'New Footscray Rd' (it was new ~1930), the old
one has vanished sufficiently for the road to be simply 'Footscray Rd' for
perhaps 10 years by now.
The original one was a continuation of Dudley St (where Docklands Drive has
been established), then crossed Moonee Ponds Creek (Coal Canal) near its
mouth into Yarra River, then angled back along the former Yarra bank to a
swing bridge over Maribyrnong River. The new road was direct, over
reclaimed swampland.
