Battery trams - an expert opinion
  Mal Rowe

I note with interest the proposal for battery (or capacitor) operation
in Newcastle.

Australia seems to be on track to have a wide variety of non-compatible
tram operations.

Today I have been scanning some historic documents for the TMSV
archives, one of which was an expert report by consultants McCarty,
Underwood and Co on the construction of what was to become the Hawthorn
Tramways Trust line to Burwood. The line is now incorporated in
Melbourne's Wantirna South line.

It seems that someone suggested battery trams and the attached appendix
is the expert response.
