Re: Preserved Auckland Trolleybuses

Thanks for the pics and info, guys.

Maybe I'm just not purist enough but the technology and current collection
are so similar to trams I find it hard to understand why someone interested
in one isn't interested in the other.

I drove trolley buses for about a year and really liked them. It takes more
brains and guile to hoon in one of them and keep your poles on than it does
in a damn noisy diesel.

Subject: [TramsDownUnder] Preserved Auckland Trolleybuses

Hello Good people

We would love to have a Trolleybus network at MOTAT. We have the finances,
we have the vehicles, power supply and overhead stored away, but we have a
lack of one vital ingredient - Self motivated, skilled t/bus volunteers?
Anyone have any spare & stored away? They don't seem to be as plentiful as
Tramway volunteers!

Trolleybuses rain in Auckland from 1938 to September 29 1980.

Without going into too much detail, MOTAT owns Auckland Trolleybus No's.1,
3, 50, 85, 108, 115.

Ian Little's Foxton Museum has Auckland 120 and has 85, 108 and 115 on
loan
from MOTAT.

The Omnibus Preservation Society of Wellington has recently had Auckland
109
given to it by Ian Little.

The Wellington Tramway Museum has Farmers No.2 which they loan to the OPS.

The Tramway Historical Society of Christchurch has Auckland's No.3 and
No.105.

There are others in the wild as sheds and accommodation, in diminishing
numbers.
