It was a pity about that car having "conventional" trucks, they were in fact modified H car trucks with clasp brakes (ie two per wheel) and 65hp motors, they certainly could get up and go. I had the pleasure of operating the car when it came down from the museum for the golden Jubilee in 79, it really flew, but then again so do the H's with a normal speed of around 40-45mph, they have been clocked at 50. 381 was nice with it's big seperate cab and "dutch doors", if memory serves, WGB turned up the day i was running the beast for the first time (I think I ran it on about 3 seperate days for the whole shift) we also ran the very nice F1 type and the museum's W2 294, which also performed exceedinly well, that was one great week.

Very modern looking body but very old fashioned looking trucks. Shame it doesn't have PCC trucks under it to give it some legs or is it a goer?
