Oh yes, another thing....surely it is the done thing to allow the
person who posted a message to answer any question relating to it,
(Within resonable time), and not have two or three members full of
good intentions coming in with their two bobs worth.

This often detracts from the direction the original sender was heading
and can lead to confusion and misunderstanding.
While it can sometimes be confusing, it can equally open up new
perspective on the discussion in hand or even lead to additional
topics for discussion etc. Again, it is part of the intrinsic nature
of mailing lists.
