I have checked photos of the two different Auckland types sent to
Napier: the G class built by DSC&Cousins in Auckland (2 of which
became Napier 8 & 9) and the London MET (Auckland K Class), the body
of which was still in the barn when the e/q hit.

I believe, looking at your photo, that it is either 8 or 9 (ie an ex
G class) not the K. The main give away is that the K had scooped in
sides below the windows whereas, in keeping with all Auckland cars
except 49, the G's did not. But I'm grateful for the shot anyway.

wheels, I had information from Graham Stewart and Bob Stott who were
living in Napier at the time, on what to look for and where.

Of course both the cabs and most of the sides had gone, but the
roof
profile and clerestory details seem to me to match pictures I have
seen.
