Yes, the Wellington trolley buses are alive and well.
About 52 of them, all Hawke / Volvo BBC. Operated by STAGECOACH.
There are many examples of the old fleet preserved.
There is also Ian Little's preserved system at Foxton.
Ferrymead museum are also running TB's

All the old trolleys up to the present generation had the power pedal
on the left of the steering wheel, brake on the right.
No deadmans facility.
The current Wellington fleet are the only trolleys in New Zealand to
have conventional pedals as in automatic diesels.

I am currently employed by Melbourne Bus Link, which took over the
last links of the MMTB and METBUS and am based at your old stamping
ground of FOOTSCRAY.

While on the subject of W2's, heres one that escaped the gunzels.
436 seen on the wharf at Wellington by my brother, couple of

years ago.

This car is now in a factory in Masterton in the Wairarapa with

an undisclosed future.

I called in to see it in June, and apart from some broken

windows, the car is complete and is sitting on its own trucks on a
concrete floor. One bumper and the poles are stored inside,
