Just to set the record straight. The first four Combino trams were
transfered to Malvern Depot on the afternoon of Wednesday 18 December
and 3502 was the first car to run out on Thursday morning at 09:20
with Ron Sholten in charge. 3503 and 3504 also run on Thursday and as
mentioned elswhere they had their problems. Two cars had brake
problems and one Air-con problem. 3501 did not run on Thursday.
Since then either two or three of the four cars have run each day.
These runs have been between normal service runs. Except yesterday,
27 DEC, when one car actually ran on M004 Run for the afternoon.
National Express, in their wisdom, had only trained the Driver
Trainers on the Combinos and that is the current situation. Despite a
mutitude of rumours on one knows when or who is to be trainedAs well
as training drivers somebody also has to do the 'running in' (the
1000 km test run that each car has to do before being handed over
to ? (whoever the M-Tram operator is).
Regards, Geoff.
