Rockdale line (was Kogarah Steam Tramway signals??)

As some of you know, Western Springs Tramway in Auckland owns and
operates ex-Sydney, ex-Wanganui Baldwin steam tram motor 100. Its
relatively short life on the Rochdale line (prior to being shipped to
Wanganui c.1910 as a construction loco for the Castlecliff-Gonville
electric tramway extension) is not all that well documented. There
are the standard references of course, esp the NSW Tramcar Handbook
by Chinn & McCarthy. We have heard rumors that photos of No.100 at
the car sheds on the Rochdale tram line exist, but they have not
surfaced to our knowledge. Can anyone provide any leads? Or any
information not recorded in the usual references for that matter.

I know this may be a tough question, but does anybody have any
information on what kind of signals were used on the Kogarah to
Sans
Souci Steam tramway?

As far as I am aware there were no signals of any sort utilised on
any
of the isolated segments of steam *street tramway* in NSW. Single
line working was controlled by a staff and ticket system but there
were no signals involved.

In general any tram signals in NSW were either on the main system
(at
very busy junctions etc) or in unusual circumstances (such as the
Wynyard Tunnels) or on what were basically branch railway lines
being
temporarily operated by steam trams.

Cheers,

Bill
