Z2 anecdote

When Z trams first arrived at Malvern depot, there was one
Z2 among them. It was number 107. Compared to the very tired and
rough suspension of the Z1's that had arrived, 107 seemed wonderfully
smooth. We all later found out that it was only a co-incidence, and that
the Z'2s were no better at all.
The differences that I can remember were that there were
not luggage racks in the Z2. It had larger sliding driver's windows. The
heating control only had 'heat' and not 'half heat' and 'full
heat'.
Andrew.
* Z2.106 was officially decommissioned today, and was taken to Preston Workshops to be stripped of ticketing equipment. Z1.82 was supposedly taken there too today for the same purpose.
