RE: Photos of the 109 extension & grassed track

Thank you, Malcolm. Very informative photos - they presumably cover the
stretch that will be grass-surfaced. Is it clear (or known) how far the
grass will extend?
BTW, does anyone know how grass track in other cities (mainly in Europe) is
kept mown? Do they use a works tram with a gang mower mounted on it? And is
there a problem with grass on the rails affecting adhesion and electrical
conductivity? IIRC, there is currently no track in Melbourne where the grass
extends to the rails, so presumably someone has thought about these issues
for the first time for Box Hill.
Cheers,
Brent Efford

Wandered up to Box Hill today to see how the extension is going. No
rails laid but the track bed from Elgar Rd to Market St is being
graded.
This is the new end of the line, just past Market St.

From Market St, looking west towards Nelson Rd.

The new track is being laid on the north side of the centre
plantation, sparing the white horse.

track bed being gouged out of the existing road surface.
