message about the maps of the Melbne Tramway network, in Trolley
Wire issue no 174 Feb 1978, The late highly eseemed Alf Twentyman, had an
excellent article on the demise of the cable network including an excellent map
of the overlaps and interchanges between the two systems and a great if potted
time line of the change over andthe possibility of maintianing Burke st a
little longer because of WW 11.My father took my cousin and I on the Nicolson st
Line into the city and back late in the afternoon of the last day of of running
in 1941. regrettably at not quite twoand a half I am unable to recall this
though my cousin could . As I will have to get off my b---m or co-opt an
operator to scan this and post it to T D U. unless another worthy has a copy (
I'm not sure about copy write though )
