Clockwork traffic signal in Melbourne

Searching the archives recently I happened upon Paul Nicholson's remarks in
messages 3725 & 3726 about Melbourne's clock-face traffic signals.
The attached picture - first posted a few weeks ago to Things With Wheels - was
taken in January of 1962. The signal is at Victoria Parade and Smith Street. If
anybody has details about these remarkable contraptions, I'd love to hear them.
Surely one must survive in a museum somewhere?
