Collins Street bridge open

Apologies for taking my time to post but I went down at lunch time
Monday and waited nearly 30 minutes for a tram to take me across the
new bridge; then three arrived!
Quite a few people out for a walk and a couple of gunzels but not
many regular passengers.
I am advised that the first tram service yesterday morning conveyed
one esteemed passenger; the world's greatest international tram
driver.
Two respected contributors to this list were aboard the second
service, so I am told.
Walking across the southern side of the bridge I noticed a short
section of abandoned rail track to the west of the "freight" lines.
Does anyone know what that track was?
