Trolleybus progress

Hi folks

I had hoped to have some interesting photos of progress on the new transport
interchange, but because I have become embroiled in a Christmas-orientated
retail venture, with my partner, in the Johnsonville Mall I simply do not
have enough time! At least I get to have a relaxing ride on the J'ville line
most days, and dream of its possible future as a light rail service.

I observe, however, that the work on the terminal building is well advanced,
all the poles for the new overhead are now up and ready for the span wires
to be erected, and the parking area which will be used by all buses waiting
for the next trip is marked-out and being used by diesels.

The new terminal will mean major changes to the trolleybus overhead layout -
new wires to take northbound trolleybuses the full length of Lambton Quay to
the interchange, and removal of the corresponding wires in Stout St and, of
course, the temporary terminal in Bunny St. I would also expect to see the
removal of the 'emergency' wires in Ballance, Featherston and Victoria
Streets - they haven't been used for years.

I will try to send a pic or two soon!

Cheers,

Brent Efford
