Electric traction in Auckland

 

 

Hi all . . . To mark the centenary today of the first operation of electric trams in Auckland when hundreds thronged Lower Queen St. on November 17, 1902, to witness Sir John Logan Campbell, "The Father of Auckland", at the controls power away the first tram up Queen St., here now is a nostalgic Graham Stewart photo of the two modes of electric traction which once plyed Auckland's streets.
