Its a shame that Victoria's 2nd largest tram system has little
recorded history. We have a few photo's on display at Drysdale
Railway Station as well as a system map-a desto roll would finish
the
display off nicely.

Did a search through my old collection of "Running Journal" and
found an article on Geelong by Keith Kings in the January 1966
edition. No illustrated destination roll, but a list of the
destinations and of the colour light codes also used in Geelong ...

The original was run off on a spirit duplicator so it was a bit
feint!!

Here 'tis:

End destination curtains as used on bogie & single truck tramcars.
Material: White
Effect: White letters on black background

KARDINIA PARK
CITY
EASTERN PARK
NORTH - SHANNON ST ONLY ... second part on two lines
FOOTBALL
BELMONT
NORTH
CHILWELL
GARDEN ST
HUMBLE ST
EAST
WEST
CITY
NEWTOWN
STATION
SOUTH
BEACH
SPECIAL
DEPOT

Coloured light codes:
NEWTOWN Green
WEST Red
EAST Blue
CHILWELL Green & Blue
BELMONT White
NORTH Red & White
EASTERN PARK Blue & White

The lights were in an auxiliary box over the destination box in the
following order:
Red White Blue Green

... with acknowledgements to Keith Kings.

There was a map too - let me know if you would like me to (try to)
scan it in.
