allegation that the Sydney monorail is either being closed, or
that there is mounting pressure to abandon it.
There has been a lot of pressure to abandon it for several years, and
it is widely regarded as an eyesore in Sydney. The Sydney City Council
would certainly be happy to see it gone, however, no one wants to pay
for the costs of its removal so it continues to operate.... as what is
primarly a tourist amustment ride with no "transit" benefit of any
significance to Sydney.
