Travels 23-25/10/02

I am currently going through tram driver training out of Southbank Depot.
Here are the details of my travels from Wednesday to Friday. Monday and
Tuesday were classroom days.
Shortage of rollingstock meant two trainees and trainers shared trams
throughout.
Wednesday 23/10.
Rollingstock shortage meant we waited for a tram until 1100. Walked
depot yard to familiarise, including sheltering in a rather dusty
B1.2001 during a heavy downpour.
1100-1200 B2.2094 Prepare and car out to Rt 86 terminus at Colonial
Stadium ... err ... Telstra Dome. Change ends, travel to Middle Park
shunt, back to Port Junction, then to Beacon Cove, back to Port
Junction, then car in via East gate.
1330-1500 B2.2049 Prepare and car out to Lonsdale St shunt. To Vodafone
arena siding, to Lonsdale St shunt, to Beacon Cove, to Port Junction,
and car in via East gate.
Thursday 24/10.
1000-1200 Pick up B2.2080 at Port Junction (other trainee had already
been to Fitzroy St terminus of Rt 112, then returned via light rail to
Port Junction). Travelled to West Preston terminus via Collins St, and
returned to Southbank via La Trobe St. Car in via East gate.
1330-1500 B2.2079 Prepare and car out to Port Junction. To Acland St
terminus of Rt 96, to Convention Centre shunt, to Albert Park siding on
Rt 112, to Convention Centre shunt, car in via East gate.
Friday 25/10.
0800-1200 B2.2079 Prepare and car out to Lonsdale St shunt. To Spencer
St shunt on Flinders St, then along Flinders St extension to temporary
terminus. Had a peek at the track being built along the old roadway (I
don't know the name). Followed a service car on Rt 70 to Wattle Park
terminus. Returned, following Rt 75 to Bridge Rd, shunting to travel up
Church St to Kew depot, shunting again to travel along Victoria Pde and
La Trobe St. Left turn onto Spencer St, then to Fitzroy St terminus of
Rt 112, and left turn onto Fitzroy St to return to Port Junction via
light rail. Car in via East gate.
1330-1500 A1.253 Prepare and car out. To La Trobe St, then left into
Nicholson to North Fitzroy shunt. Return via Bourke St to car in via
East gate. The starter needed the tram, meaning we didn't have time to
get to East Brunswick terminus.
I trust this has been of interest, and I'll post more from next week's
in service running if people are interested.
