The most heavily-used trolleybus wire in Dunedin was the stretch of Princes
Street from the Market Reserve in the south through the Exchange to the
Octagon. This was prolonged into North Dunedin by the Gardens-via-George-Street
route, which embraced a 12-minute basic service to Normanby and three trips per
hour to Opoho, somewhat awkwardly divided into 12- and 24-minute headways. To
maintain a 4-minute interval, additional trips to the Gardens were plugged into
the timetable. One of these is shown in this picture looking south at the
Octagon.
