A very interesting shot! Note that the diesel bus on the left of the photo
is passing a line of trams parked in the Kent Tce siding. The cover for the
point lever for the south entrance to this siding is still visible in the
pavement, beside the Queen Victoria statue. AFAIK, this is the last tramway
track artefact visible in the streets of Wellington - i.e. not counting the
rails etc still visible within the Kilbirnie Workshops.

The other remaining signs are buildings - the Workshops, the facade of the
1908 Tramways Building at the north end of Lambton Quay and a few remaining
shelters now serving bus passengers. There may be the odd steel support pole
still around, and a few of the old wooden ones now supporting trolleybus
overhead probably once served trams as well, and in one or two places (like
the corner of Vivian St and Cambridge Tce) splices in the trolleybus
overhead mark where a crossing with the tram wire has been taken out.

Maybe hitting the bottom of the barrel, but here is an enlargement of small
part of a panorama shot from atop Mount Victoria in the spring of 1960.

The yellow dots point out (left to right):

A diesel bus southbound in Kent Terrace. This would be a No.3 to Seatoun or
Lyall Bay, which had lost their trams but not yet received trolleys.

A bus (westbound?) on the north side of Courtenay Place, just above and to
the
right of the large mass of the Embassy Theatre. Once again a No.3, I guess.

A tram eastbound in Courtenay Place near Tory Street.

The Wakefield Street depot this side of Chaffers St. Can't make out any
trolleybases here - maybe if I'd used a telephoto :-(

Considering all the trolleybuses that ran along Wakefield Street, it's a bit
disappointing not to see a single one here.
