Hello,
In the October issue of 'Transit Australia', right at the end of a
section headed 'Green W-class Trams Return', there is a single
sentence which states:

"M>Tram will not be returning W class trams to service."

Is this right? If so, how have they managed to get around the
clauses
re W-class trams which are (supposedly) in their contracts?

There is conflicting information (seemingly) about this in two
recent
reports on this site.

In Message 3890, Andy B refers to Glen Huntly staff being issued
with
fault finding material for Ws, and in Message 3897, Paul N refers
to
a paragraph in this month's 'Light Rail...' which suggests that
Yarra
Trams are to take over M>Tram.

As a poor Adelaidean, suffering from 'W-class deprivation', can
anyone closer to the scene please clarify the situation?

YT have the CC Ws to maintain/run, so adding the extras won't be a
problem in terms of a "new" fleet. To M>Tram, they are "adding"
another class of trams in their Ws, hence the reluctance to return
them to service. IIRC, some M>Tram Ws are being worked on at PWS
(with some others stored over the road in (old) Thornbury Depot)

But "things" will be one again soon enough, and then we might have
some changes. =)
