Nice to be invited to join the group. I hadn't heard of it until
Peter told me about it.
A few enthusiasts rode the last route 23 service in Melbourne on
Friday night. It was a peak-hour only service from La Trobe Street to
Mont Albert that had been running since 1952. The car was A 287.
The regular service to Mont Albert (route 109) is being increased
from tomorrow and the new Citadis trams will be introduced soon (next
month?). Four have been delivered from France and they are doing
trial runs around the Yarra Trams network.
Routes 11 (West Preston) and 12 (St Kilda Beach) have been combined
full time as the 112. Previously route 12 operated separately with W
class trams. Since the withdrawal of the Ws last year it has run as a
combined route during the week (West Preston to St Kilda Beach) and
numbered 112. Until a few years ago the combined route was #10. It
operated at nights and at weekends.
