I'm not sure what Mr. Butler means by "that late." Did the Crossleys wear the
Silver Ghost livery longer than the BUTs? I left NZ in mid-1962 and was in
Wellington several times during that year. Though I can't say that I saw silver
trolleys that late, neither do I remember *not* seeing them. These pictures, I
am fairly confident, were taken during a weekend visit in February of 1961.
I've included an enlargement of the other Roseneath picture as well, though
there isn't a whole lot that can be gleaned from it. Or rather, I'll include it
in a separate post - the Esteemed Leader informed me of the rule against
multiple binaries.

I sent Don's Roseneath photos to Graeme Butler, the Stagecoach trolleybus
engineer, and he replied:
"I was about to query the dates - I hadn't realised that the 11-48 group of
BUT's carried the silver livery that late. At first glance I had assumed
that it was a photo of #39 in its "heritage" colours! A much closer
inspection on my computer screen reveals the fleet number either #43 or #45
(the last digit is not too clear) and it is carrying license plates "black
on yellow"."
