Tram News (Preston area) 19/9

* Early in the afternoon W class 892 was by itself in Preston Depot's
outside rd 13. It has been painted recently into the heritage colours, but
had no track brakes. A1.246 (YT livery) was taken off route 112 duties for
reasons unknown, later it hauled 892 round the corner to Preston
Workshops. 246 returned to the Depot towing W 862 - in recent/fresh
heritage livery and with track brakes - and placed it on rd 13 where 892 was.
* C3034 was transferred to Preston Workshops from the city direction; C3036
departed the workshops in a southbound direction soon after (presumed to be
the same driver).
* Contrary to popular belief, Z2.111 had it's ticket machine intact and was
in fact clocking up some kilometers on the test track of the workshops
during the afternoon. Two technicians were seen to retrieve a book that
looked a lot like a manual at one stage, suggesting that there is something
incorrect about the tram's performance on the speedway.
* A Combino in plain white livery was hidden amongst the numerous trams
awaiting attention in the yard. Reports (to be confirmed) suggest that
five more Combinos have been delivered recently and 3505 is in testing livery.
Cheers, Gareth.
