14.9:

* Because of trackwork on Swanston St between LaTrobe and Franklin St,
diversions were in place: Glenhuntly trams ran normal routes as far as
Domain Rd and then diverted via Rt 55 to terminate/layover at Dudley St
siding. Malvern trams ran to the Arts Center. Buses ran between Melb Uni
and Arts Center/Domain Interchange. Brunswick trams terminated at Elgin &
Lygon Sts, buses ran to Sth Melb Beach. Passengers on GH trams changed at
Domain Interchange, either to a waiting bus or to a Malvern tram (whichever
came first) which would meet a bus at the Arts Center. CSEs, TA's and
operational staff were on hand at strategic locations to assist drivers and
passengers as required, points were changed for drivers at Domain Rd and
Dudley St. The Arts Center crossover is spring-loaded.

* In the early afternoon, Z1.49 and Z3.184 were handed over to Bombadier for
training purposes. Occupation was taken out on 7 to 10 roads. Z1.49 was
derailed and mechanics were shown how to rerail it. A person with a Betacam
camera was present and was filming, obviously for future instructional
purposes.

* At around 15.22, Z2.112 suffered a loss of brakes when entering Carnegie
terminus. The driver put his foot to the floor which collapsed due to being
rotted. He was instructed to shut down the tram and lock and leave, it
would be collected by mechanics at a later time.

* Around the same time Z3.182 developed faulty dynamic brakes while working
a Rt 79 service, it terminated at Commercial Rd while heading northbound.
It was later seen returning to GH depot, driven by a mechanic.

* At around 16.00, Z3.152 developed a battery fault while working a Rt 79
service, the driver noted slight braking problems and a lack of certain
features such as wipers, etc. The tram formed a Rt 78 and terminated at
Prahran, running special to GH.

* At around 21.30, B2.2111 was seen travelling east on Flinders St near
Market St, it was unclear if it was running special/on transfer or in
service.

* Throughout the course of the day, a number of GH trams developed faults
and as such were not available for service:

Z1.1 - Faulty transponder
Z1.11 - Faulty tread mat
Z1.45 - Losing dynamic brakes
Z1.53 - Faulty doors
Z1.56 - Faulty tread mat
Z1.79 - Grabbing brakes
Z1.89 - Blowing Line Breaker
Z2.112 - No brakes, hole in floor
Z2.115 - Door not opening
Z3.152 - Battery
Z3.171 - Locked disc brakes
Z3.182 - Losing dynamic brakes

15.9:

* Diversions continued today. Ventura and Sita provided bustitution
services for GH and Malvern trams, NBC doing Brunswick. The event was well
organised and planned, there appeared to be a minimum of disruption to
services over the weekend.

* Z1.21 was removed from GH early this morning; power was cut to 10 road
from 7.00 to allow a crane to come and lift it onto a truck for removal to
Preston Workshops. It could not be driven there because of serious accident
damage sustained several months ago when it was hit by a truck. Rumour
states this tram has also been sold to Grollo.

* Z3.152 was back in service today, however it was still defective.
(Obviously shows the driver who car'd out did not check it properly).

* W6.983 worked Rt 14 services today, I caught it at LaTrobe St heading back
to Soutbank Depot.
