Graeme,
When the electrics got their freedom to run across the system, at Park & Claredon the Preston trams ran to Sth Melb Bch, which means they turned right from Claredon into Park St, the Brunswick trams were St Kilda Via Sth Melb and would have turned left from Park St into Claredon St and may have only gone as far as the Albert Park Bch terminus until they extended as is today until Mary St where it ran and joined onto the Upper Esplanade service  via Beaconsfield Pde. I saw the tracks connecting but  never saw a tram use or be photographed on it. Caught a w several times at this terminus route 10. The council asked for the trams to be changed and be through routed hence the change B to Sth Melb Bch & P to Sth Melb & St K Bch. Some old photos of the late Clive M. Gibson have the old destination St Kilda Via Sth Melb. Thats why - I think. on the early electric route numbers it reads Albert Park - East Coburg route 1. This change happened around 1953. Regards - Ron
