The main reason why the buses came off route 377 was the
privatisation of the MMTB Doncaster routes in 1993.

Route 77 ran until the mid-80s and was a very lightly patronised

provided a handy alternative to get to Chapel Street direct from
town. It
travelled via Swan Street then turned into Chapel Street and went

way to Prahran, Brighton Road. From memory the North Richmond
cars went to
St Kilda Beach.

But it did provide extra headway's on the parallel routes. When it
came
off, I'll bet the other routes were not increased to suit. Probably
pleased the motorists in Chapel Street though.

At night I think it travelled to St Kilda Bch but I could be
wrong. Sundays
saw a bus - route 377 I think.

Correct and it lasted until the one man trams came along, and the
route
3 service reverted to trams via normal route and the buses came off.
