When i chartered L101 to be the last car to Old Moreland shunt in
july 1972 i originally booked W4671. However,although the car was
sent to Sth Melb Depot,it was not allowed to be used a/c no bell
cords.I tried to use W3 657 or W2 424 which was stored however due to
these cars being stored the workshops would not allow the use of the
vehicles.As i had already paid for the tour they let L101 be used.I
chartered other trams for further tours but i was never allowed to
use the stored cars in Hawthorn Depot,so i used the stored cars in
Brunswick Depot I always paid for my charters in advance as D MENZIES
who worked in MMTB head office would do his best to try and stop the
tours.
