I'm surprised that it had an operable trolley pole. I though that the
situation in the attached picture was the normal one.

Interestring that 42 was operating with a trolley pole. The
pantograph (at the front of the car) was down, possibly damaged.
Z 3 is one of the three cars rumoured to have been sold for scrap
recently. Its pantograph was down.
I suspect 42 was towing 3 to Preston Workshops.
A very interesting lunch time observation.
