I was busy at the ARHS swap meet today but a contact who visited Port
Melbourne to look over the two new Tasmanian ferries reported that
the tram service was not able to cope with the demand.
Apparently Yarra Trams had increased the service to 10 minutes but
rostered A class trams in the main. Apparently there was one B2 and a
few Citadis.
What are the responsibilities of the transport operators when an
event such as this is put on by another organisation? I remember Jeff
Kennett saying it was the responsibility of the people putting on the
event to pay for the additional tranport services. Does this still
apply? If it does then what happens when the public transport service
underestimates the demand?
