Hello again,

Ther are several bits of Brisbane Tramways still in existence. I have previously mentioned the reservation in Old Cleveland Rd Camp Hill, there is a small section of the second Victoria Bridge preserved on the Sth Brisbane side of the river that has around ten metres or so of double track tram line still extant. I believe there is still lots of tram track buried under roads in Brisbane, when Wharf St in the city was resurfaced around a year or so ago, the mass concreted tram line was exposed. The Council relaid bitumen on top of this as the tram line provided an excellent base for the new surface. Busway work under the Sth Brisbane rail bridge saw the removal of part of the West End/Dutton Park tram line in Melbourne St. One pointer to the existence of tram lines in Brisbane is the existence of horizontal cracks in the road surface. This theory was borne out in Wharf St.

Won't be able to report more until any new roadwork is undertaken.

Dave in Brisbane.
