In Queensland...
Also the steam tram at Rockhampton, the sole remaining operating Purrey
steam tram in the world. This runs on "middle of the street" former
railway track in a tourist style operation but it is a genuine
Rockhmapton steam tram.
In New South Wales...
An interesting aspect of STM/SPER is the completness of their Sydney
collection. They are extremely fortunate to have examples (often
multiple examples) of nearly every car type from the huge and varied
Sydney fleet. Only the G (32 cars), H and M only (2 cars each)
classes are missing from the passenger fleet, while the service fleet
is also very well represented with the only major misses being any
sprinkler cars and the short lived Differential Dump cars. Their
expansion of the collection into "foreign" cars has been to
illustrate/contrast tramcar developments in other parts of Australia
and the World, rather than to make up for a lack of local examples, as
is often the case.
There is also the Steam Tram and Railway Preservation Society at Valley
Heights roundhouse, with original and replica Baldwin Steam Tram Motors
and a variety of original and replica Sydney Steam Tram rolling stock.
Cheers,
Bill
