Our pantos do not normally bounce, only perhaps
under a bridge where there is no spring in the overhead wires. At
insulators in the overhead, the air con cuts out for maybe 2 seconds but the
lights only blink. The lights over the doors are connected to the
batteries so I guess they stay on. Ours are full diamond, although I am
not sure why.

Faiveley pantographs (believe this is the correct term for half-diamond
pantographs) sometimes bounce along the overhead v\for various reasons.
Besides cutting power for traction motors temporarily on modern lrvs, the
interior lights will go out momentarily as well. Several banks of lights
work off battery for emergency lighting, but the car is momentarily quite
dark until the pan regains contact with the overhead.
This is the experience with lrvs here in SF -- is this true on your lrvs
as well?
