I am sure David Keenan would do a wonderful job writing up Melbourne
trams.
It was always understood that Keith Kings would one day write
the "definite" history of Melbourne trams. Also, I know Ross Willson
from Canberra has been researching the subject for more than 30
years. Because our hobby is an ageing one it might be that we are all
dead before the history of Melbourne trams is written. It is a
complex task probably far beyond the capacity of one person so
perhaps all the information might be "lost" forever. Because so much
of Melbourne's tramway development took place during the "British"
era it did seem appropriate in the mid 1970s that much of the
official information collected by the former MMTB be returned to
the "mother country". Does anyone know if any of this is still extant
in the United Kingdom?

Quite a lot has been published over the years in Electric
Traction/Transit Australia as well as in Running Journal and
Trolley
Wire.... its just that for some reason no one seems motivated to
collect and organise the various individual articles into a
cohesive
form to make a book (or books).

Maybe someone in Melbourne should offer David Keenan a job - he has
just
about covered Sydney in depth, moving to Melbourne might give him
the
opportunity of a new series!
