Yep, lies for the fools. Here's an idea which will probably get ignored or poo-pooed. How about Yarra running a tango type service from a terminus at Park Street and Toorak Road to the Dudley Street shunt via Domain Road, Kingsway and William Street? Maybe
three to four trams from Southbank Depot could run it? It would be convenient for those wanting to access the Domain and Park Street. It would also create a better frequency along William Street, augmenting the West Coburg service.
Cheers,
Andrew Cook.

On the other hand, the existence of the new track will create a political dynamic for its use. You can guarantee that, within 2 weeks of Domain Rd reopening to car traffic, the Herald Sun will print a breathless denunciation of state government 'waste' for not immediately reinstating tram services. It will be called 'Tram line to nowhere' and will start something like 'Despite the Metro Tunnel spending $x million on reinstating the tram lines in Domain Rd, the state government has not indicated that they will ever be used'.—
That’d be the same Herald Sun that proclaimed that the rebuilt Acland St terminus would “destroy all local businesses”.
About what you’d expect from a rag where the only truth was the penises drawn on it garbage content.
