Fwd: W2's - can you help

My son Russell and myself were looking at slides taken in August 1987 of W2's on Route 72. This morning I saw a couple of W2's in Riversdale Road, Hawthorn at the same time. Looking at the comments, it stated that there was a maintenance ban at the Workshops, on I presume modern cars.

Also I have video taken at Malvern in 1988, which shows a couple of W2's and an L on Route 69.

Even though I was employed with the trams at the time, I do not remember this event.

Do you know how many W2's were taken out of storage, and which routes they ran. I assume both Camberwell routes and all of Malvern was involved.
