Gentlemen
I was looking through an old album tonight and found a photo from the
John Alfred collection of the VR single truck car #6 on the AETA tour
on 2 May 1956.
Somehow my mother found out about the tour and took me along. I was
not quite six years old. I've put the photo in the files section of
this group; haven't quite worked out how to attach a photo to a
message; advice off list would be [email protected]
I am sitting with my arm on the barrier in the open drop end. It was
my only trip on the VR line [and I did "do" it end to end in the same
vehicle!!!!!] although my parents did take me to see the "railway
trams" several times; if I recall usually as part of a trip to the
beach. I remember eating lunch on the grass outside the Middle
Brighton Baths watching the bogie cars go by. That was probably 1957.
My last recollection of the "railway trams" was a family outing to
Luna Park one evening in the school holidays early 1959. I saw a
bogie car in Barkly Street between Carlisle and Acland Streets.
Hope this sharing of childhood memories from 46 years ago is of
interest.
