RE: Geelong trams

A tourist tramway up Pakington street west would be a nightmare, having lived in Geelong now since 1995 Pakington street from one end to the other is always jammed packed with cars, and with all the traffic islands etc, and slow speeds of cars, it would cause an already busy street into something like Sydney Road.

If Geelong was to put a tourist tramway back in, (and I hope one day they do) whilst most likely on an original route, the west end of Shannon Ave, around the Barwon River would be good, or even better still around the eastern beach with an extension back up Moorooabool street, the roads are certainly wide enough and most if not all of Geelong tourist attractions are around the eastern beach area,   Just a thought that's all.

greetings, the track i saw in ryrie st would be the original track of
1912.i was fortunate to ride all the geelong system before it
closed.if the advocates of the proposed tourist tramway for geelong
are reading this site, geelong no 39 <as ballarat 41> still exists
complete in a horsham tearoom.perhaps a swap could be made using a
complete melb.w ex newport.the potential exists, all it needs is the
idea to be implemented.finally the best area for a tourist tramway in
geelong would be packington st geelong west, jeff
