Ballarat Depot

Found an interesting pic while going through an old
folder for another posting.

I've attached the pic which shows the general chaos
that was then the repair area at the rear of the
depot.
(17 lived to run again!)

Ballarat depot had an earlier history as a horse tram
depot and evidence of that can be seen on one of the
posts in the pic (see also the second pic)

The check out in the roof support post was where the
drop in rails fitted that kept the horses (housed on
the sides of the depot) separate from the double deck
horse cars (housed in the centre)
