Subject: TAN: Restoration of ex-New Orleans W2s for Memphis
Hi, gang!
Work is in progress at Gomaco Trolley Co. of Ida Grove, Iowa toward the
rebuilding of three Melbourne W2s which previously ran as "The Ladies In
Red" on the Riverfront Line in New Orleans (from 1988 to 1997). There is
also one from the Green Bay, WI museum getting this treatment.
This picture from Gomaco shows the nearly completed roof of one W2, and the
framing for the roof of another car.
The car numbers which will be used by Memphis will probably be the same as
the ones New Orleans used: 452, 454 and 455. Their Melbourne numbers,
respectively, were 626, 478 and 331, respectively. The Green Bay car was
number 503.
