I can confirm that no tram services were disrupted in Hobart due to the
funeral and associated events. Bus services were thrown in to chaos as the
major roads into and out of the bus mall on the southern side were closed
for a 3 hours.

Forgive me for being compeletely off-topic, but I have to say I was touchedJoe Thompson<[email protected]> 05/25/02 11:55am >>>
to read a news article about Alec Campbell, who died at 103. He was the
last surviving Anzac known to have served at Gallipoli.
I was impressed that many people across Australia observed a moment of
silence during the funeral, that flags flew at half mast, and that the
Prime
Minister showed up at the funeral. It was nice to see that people remember
the terrible sacrifice that the 1 million Allies, many of whom were Anzacs,
made at Gallipoli: 55,000 were killed, 10,000 went missing, 21,000 died of
disease.
I hope that my fellow Americans will remember the sacrifices brave men and
women made on our behalfs when we celebrate Memorial Day this weekend.

Interestingly, the spokesperson from M> was on the radio announcing that
all of their trams and trains (presumably Connex / Yarra Trams too - can
anyone confirm?) would be stopping at 11am as a mark of respect, same as
they do on Remembrance Day.
