Once I heard that well known identity Bob Murphy refer to these vehicles when he first saw one as....."The World's Ugliest bus !!" Think he even put it in print in the union mag too....

I wouldn't have said they were the World's Ugliest Bus, however I would have thought they'd be up for the title of World's Gutless Bus. Many times I've travelled on the 269 in one chugging up the Williamsons Road hill wondering if we were going to make it or not.

The 273 along Reynolds Road was a different matter though, nobody ever used the bus service and the drivers would accelerate down the hill and up the next. I am sure that in many cases they were doing much more than the sign posted 70! The Mk Is were the best 45c roller coaster you could ever ride on...8^)
